On Thursday, October 29, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy
Yatsenyuk met with a delegation of the National
Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry (USA).
The sides discussed the issues on combating anti-Semitism, strengthening
inter-ethnic peace in Ukraine, supporting Eurointegration
aspirations of Ukraine in general and its democratic institutions - in
particular. Arseniy Yatsenyuk
stressed that the strengthening of tolerance and mutual respect in relations among
Ukrainian citizens of various ethnic origin and religious beliefs, as well as
the uncompromising struggle against all forms of anti-Semitism, racism and
xenophobia is one of the main priorities in the work of the Ukrainian Government.
Particular attention was paid to the preparation for the 75th anniversary
of the Babi Yar tragedy,
which will be marked next year in Kyiv at the international level. The
Prime Minister of Ukraine underlined that this was the tragedy of a global
scale, and the memory of it should be transmitted from generation to
generation. He
informed the delegation of the National Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry about
the concept of the commemoration, the preparations for it and invited them to
take part in memorial events.
In turn, the members of the delegation of the National Coalition Supporting
Eurasian Jewry praised the efforts of the Government to prevent the incitement
of hatred on national soil, its rapid response to provocations against civil
accord in the country and pledged the support for changes in the socio-political
and economic spheres being carried out in Ukraine.
