Gov't adopts resolution on suspension of media inspections during elections
The Government of
Ukraine has adopted a resolution on the suspension of inspections of the media
prior to completion of the process of local elections in 2015 due to failure to
vote for an appropriate resolution in the Parliament.
At the session of
the Government Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has asked the Minister of Information Policy of
Ukraine Yurii Stets about failure of the Parliament to
approve a resolution on banning checks of the media during elections for the
first time in several years. The
Minister suggested the Government to adopt a resolution on the introduction of
restrictions on checks of the media before the completion of the process of
local elections in 2015.
The Prime
Minister said that he had received a letter from Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Hroisman with the same
request.
"The Cabinet
of Ministers must take an appropriate decision," he stressed.
"Let’s call on all the public authorities via the government resolution to prevent inspections of the media until the holding of elections," Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to the members of the Government.
