PM: With no anti-corruption prosecutor, free regime and next IMF tranche in doubt

"I hope an anti-corruption prosecutor to be appointed. And the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, which have already hired detectives, will begin its work in investigating criminal cases against the officials of any rank who committed corruption crimes and offences," Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasised at a government meeting on Wednesday, 7 October.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction about the yesterday’s decision to launch the competition for the post of anti-corruption prosecutor: "Without the anti-corruption prosecutor will be neither a free regime nor the next tranche of the International Monetary Fund. Because it is one of the key elements in combating corruption," he underlined, noting that today’s statement by the European Commission is another proof of this.

He recalled that the Government fulfilled its part of the work on the creation of the National Anti-Corruption Agency: "We have changed the nomination committee, which elects members of the National Anti-Corruption Agency. We made it absolutely transparent one that meets the best European standards."

"We are looking forward to the appointment of a head and deputy heads of the National Anti-Corruption Agency by the competition commission with an excellent reputation," Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.
