On Friday, October 2, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk visited specialized school №148 named after Ivan Bahriany with an in-depth studying of Ukrainian language and literature, where he met with principals of Kyiv schools, who had won an open competition to take relevant offices.

Director of school №148 Serhii Gorbachev is among the heads of educational institutions, appointed according to the results of such competition in Kyiv. The overall list contains 22 principals of the schools and 19 heads of preschool educational institutions.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk views introduction in Kyiv of such open tender "unprecedented and logical". He informed that the local authorities of Chernivtsi had also followed the example and adopted a decision to hold an open competition.

The Prime Minister stressed the need for the introduction of the competitive selections of administrative staff of secondary and preschool educational institutions throughout the country. In his opinion, an issue can be solved with adoption of a directive of the Cabinet of Ministers in order to help the local authorities: "To have an absolutely clear, understandable formula: from a mechanism of the competitive selection, tests to the decision-making process".

He accentuated that the principals who had won an open competition "have the will and desire to make changes and have a vision."

"Your business influences the future of the country. Every child you educate may grow into a Nobel laureate, a future commander of Ukrainian troops, a future President, Prime Minister, a future top physician of Ukraine, a top physicist. That is the country’s fate is in your hands”, he said.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk congratulated the principals on the coming Day of Educationalist: "I am grateful to You for You bear such a heavy burden. You are extremely gifted, and I believe that you can ensure an order in your schools".
