Arseniy Yatseniuk in Bykivnia: "The civilized world has no place for imperial ambitions and dictatorship. Who follows this way - must undergo the Hague Tribunal"

On Thursday, 17 September, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Prime Minister of Poland Ewa Kopacz, who arrived in Ukraine on a working visit, participated in a ceremony commemorating the victims of totalitarianism in Bykivnia.

In the framework of commemorative events devoted to the Katyn tragedy, the Heads of Governments of Poland and Ukraine laid flowers to the memorial of the victims of totalitarianism in Bykivnia - graves of Polish and Ukrainian victims of the Stalin's regime.

They paid tribute with a minute of silence. There was a public prayer for victims of Stalinist repression.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that Bykovnia Graves is a place of the great tragedy and "humiliation of human dignity and freedom": "Thousands of Ukrainians, Poles, Jews and other free people were murdered by the Bolshevik Soviet Stalinist regime."

The Prime Minister of Ukraine underlined the importance of today's visit of the Prime Minister of Poland: "This is the place of our common tragedy. These tragedies should only unite us, make stronger. We cannot allow this to happen ever again."

He has pointed out that it is necessary to draw correct conclusions from historical lessons": "The Nazis and the Bolsheviks-Communists divided our countries and tortured our people. In Brest the Nazis and "the Soviets" conducted a joint parade. The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was signed in secret. And this was among the reasons that led to the Second World War."

"On this holy spot for Ukrainians and Poles we have to swear that we will keep on fighting for our freedom and independence, for the free world and values of the free world," he emphasised.

In this struggle, the Prime Minister of Ukraine underlined, we should be united - "as we are demonstrating worldwide support in the fight against Russian aggression".

"The civilized world has no place for imperial ambitions, totalitarianism and dictatorship. Who follows this route must undergo the Hague Tribunal," the Head of Ukrainian Government highlighted.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that unity between Warsaw and Kyiv "is the axis of European future of our states": "We were together, we are together and we will be together in our common struggle for our European future."
