Andrii Pyvovarsky discussed with EU Commissioner feasible liberalization of road transport
On September 14,
Infrastructure Minister Andrii Pyvovarsky
had a bilateral working meeting with European Commissioner for Mobility and
Transport Violetta Bulc in
the framework of his visit to Brussels.
At the meeting, the
Minister informed about the current state of the infrastructure in Ukraine, the
implementation process of European directives within national law. Andrii Pyvovarsky paid special
attention to bills on railway transport and on inland waterway transport, which
are designed to meet the best European practices, including on the organization
of transport security.
The sides
discussed key issues of future cooperation. According to Andrii
Pyvovarsky, new key goal for Ukraine is the
integration of the national transport system into the European transport
network, "the issue of liberalization of the road transport sector comes
to the fore due to the introduction of a free trade zone. We believe that the
new terms of transport services will be a good stimulus for the development of
trade relations between Ukraine and Belgium. Ukrainian side is interested in
the liberalization of transport of goods by road, thus I hope to start
consultations on preparing a relevant agreement between Ukraine and EU member
states," the Minister noted.
In addition, Andrii Pyvovarsky addressed Violetta Bulc with a proposal to
review the terms and simplify the procedure for submitting applications for
participation in the projects supported by the European Union.
Particular
attention was paid to the question of signing the EU-Ukraine agreement on
common aviation area. According to Violetta Bulc, the European Union is interested in the settlement of
the legal conflicts that arose over the question of Gibraltar, and rules out
the adoption of new legislative initiatives in the aviation sector. Andrii Pyvovarsky drew the
attention of Violetta Bulc
to the fact that Ukraine is actively working on bringing the national
legislation in the field of civil aviation in line with European standards and
this work will improve the safety of air transportation.
