Arseniy Yatsenyuk: We expect that each third dollar will be earned for Ukraine by our agrarian sector

Presently, there have been harvested early grain crops in the amount exceeding by 2 million tons the harvest of last year. It is expected that during the current year every third dollar coming to Ukraine will be from our agrarian sector. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced on Friday, August 21, during a meeting with leading grain traders which was held at a branch "Pereyaslavska" of the Nibulon company in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky.

The Prime Minister informed that this year it is predicted foreign currency earnings from sales of agricultural products worth USD 6 billion.

"You are perfectly aware it directly influences the currency exchange rate, an ability to accumulate gold and foreign currency reserves of the National Bank of the country. And an ability of the economy to maintain the predicted showings of both inflation and currency exchange rate", said the Head of Government.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk highlighted another positive tendency: "It is the fact that agricultural products exported to Russian market actually make up 2% of total agricultural export of Ukraine". That is, Russia's share in the consumption of Ukrainian agricultural products has fallen fourfold. "Therefore, there have been opened new markets, including another opportunity for Ukraine, apart from Asian markets, which is our free trade agreement, being the first step for Ukrainian agricultural products to be exported to Europe, to the member states of the European Union," stressed the Prime Minister.

The Head of Government stressed that volumes of such products will depend on “our ability to compete in foreign markets and our ability to construct such grain elevators as the Nibulon, which we are visiting today".
