Arseniy Yatsenyuk addresses to the Parliament to pass the Law on an additional funding of the needs of Chernobyl NPP and the exclusion zone
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk
made a working trip to the exclusion zone on Thursday, July 9 before a donors
meeting of the Chernobyl Shelter Fund.
PM informed that the donors meeting of the
Chernobyl Shelter Fund to be held on July 16 in
Vice Prime Minister of
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that before the donors
meeting, the Ukrainian Parliament should pass the law on an additional funding
of the needs of the Chernobyl NPP and the exclusion zone: "It's about 135
million dollars to provide funding for the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, in
particular the Shelter.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk visited the Chernobyl Shelter
and got acquainted with the construction of the New Safe Confinement (NSC), the
completion of which is scheduled for IV quarter of 2017 during the visit to the
exclusion zone.
The project of the New Safe Confinement was
approved in 2004. Temporary objects were put into operation in the first stage,
including three concrete plants, new high-voltage line for concrete plants, building
of a laboratory, repair shops. In the second phase, the work on the design and
construction of the New Safe Confinement are being provided then the Confinement
to be tested and commissioned.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk has also inspected the
progress of construction of the storage of spent nuclear fuel (SSNF 2) "dry"
type.
The project works regarding the construction of
SSNF 2 is completed.
