During a press conference in Odesa, Vice Admiral Serhiy Gayduk Ukraine’s Navy Commander, spoke about the present and the prospects of the development of the national fleet.

According to commander, during a year after redeployment from Crimea, the Ukrainian Navy has performed the key task such as recovery of combat readiness. The naval capacities and capabilities are used within the forces of the ‘anti-terror’ operation, and they accomplish tasks in the Black sea by increasing the regional security.

Vice Admiral Serhiy Gayduk stressed the National Naval Doctrine was under development and that, according to the State Program of Development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the strength of the Ukrainian Navy would be increased by 30 combat ships, boats and service vessels in case of regular budgeting until 2020. The newest corvettes and missile boats, gunboats, and assault boats will form the basis of the future Navy.
