Ukrainian, Lithuanian and Polish Defence Ministers hold trilateral talks in Brussels

Defence Minister Stepan Poltorak took part in the Trilateral Meeting in participation of Lithuanian Defence Minister Mr. Juosas Olekas and Polish Defence Minister Mr. Tomasz Siemoniak.

The parties discussed the issues of joint cooperation within the NATO projects, as well as particular aspects of defence technical cooperation, including the formation of the joint Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade “litpolukrbrig”.

“The most serious humanitarian and terrorist catastrophe of today’s world is going on in Ukraine,” Mr. Tomasz Siemoniak stressed. “Poland will increase its efforts to support the friendly people and assist Ukraine in its fighting for independence.”

In the course of talks, the parties agreed to sign the joint Protocol on formation of the “litpolukrbrig” in Kyiv this summer.

Minister of Defence of Ukraine praised the aid provided by Polish and Lithuanian Governments, thanked for servicemen training, and proposed to discuss the possibility of organization of joint exercise.

“Thanks to experience of participation in the ‘anti-terror’ operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have learnt new methods of fighting in the context of the hybrid war,” Stepan Poltorak stressed. “Joint exercise will foster this experience sharing, and I’m sure it will be useful for any participant.”
