PM orders to involve the best international experts to file lawsuits against Russia: There is no pardon for thousands of victims on Putin's conscience

On Monday, June 22, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has appealed to the Justice Ministry of Ukraine to involve the international community and the best lawyers in the world to file as many lawsuits against Russia as possible over a short period of time, including from private business entities activities.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk has noted that international law gives no opportunity to find mechanisms "for both a quick redress and punishment of an aggressor state."

The Head of Government stressed that the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine "had found all possible legal means and methods to judge the Russian Federation."

He recalled that the Ukrainian side had filed three lawsuits against the Russian Federation to the European Court of Human Rights. It was started the process of bringing Russia to responsibility for violation of the International Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism.

In addition, the Prime Minister stressed that the Ministry of Justice spearheaded the process of appealing to the courts by Ukrainian companies against the Russian Federation "with the intention to punish Russia for its illegal annexation of Crimea, capture of Donetsk and Luhansk and compensate the appropriate property damage."

"Russia needs to get punishment, both geopolitical and economic. There is no pardon for illegal annexation of the Crimea, the invasion into Donetsk and Luhansk and thousands of dead people on Putin’s conscience," Arseniy Yatsenyuk underlined.

The Prime Minister appealed to the Ministry of Justice "to attract on any conditions the international community and the best lawyers in the world to file as many lawsuits as possible against the Russian Federation, including from private business entities activities."
