PM says any attempts of privatization of the National Anticorruption Bureau to be doomed to failure

"Any attempts of privatization either of the National Anticorruption Bureau, or the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption is doomed to failure", Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized at a meeting of the Collegium of the Justice Ministry of Ukraine on Monday, June 22.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk also stressed the need to provide "real, effective operation of the National Anticorruption Bureau: "I hope that by September the first detectives, selected in an open competition, will have a real fight against corruption in the country."

"The National Anti-Corruption Bureau is a completely independent body. This means that the body must manifest itself in the fight against corruption at all crossbar of Ukrainian authorities," he stressed.

The Prime Minister also underlined that the National Corruption Prevention agency will also be an independent - preventive body which must urgently address the issue of fighting corruption in government, including checking the conditions of life of civil servants and their compliance with the declaration of income and expenses, "The country must change, not in words but in deeds."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that the competition was held for members of the agency: "Someone wants to grab leadership of the National Anti-Corruption Agency. But the agency will stay independent."

He noticed that he was ready to change the Government’s representative in the competition commission for the selection of candidates for membership of the Agency "and to delegate representation to NGOs. "But any attempts of privatization either of the National Anticorruption Bureau, or National Agency for Prevention of Corruption are doomed to failure", Arseniy Yatsenyuk highlighted.
