PM in Washington says our task is to attract as many investors as possible to develop Ukrainian economy

"Our task is to attract as many investors and American money as possible for the development of Ukrainian economy in order to create jobs, restore economic growth in Ukraine," Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized following his visit to the United States.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that one of the purposes of his working visit to the U.S. was preparing for the Investment Conference to be held on July 13 at the bilateral level between Ukraine and the USA.

He underlined that official statements of the Group of Seven finance ministers, the IMF, the G7 leaders declare the support for reforms carrying out by the Government of Ukraine.

The Prime Minister highlighted the need to continue reforms - particularly in the energy sector, agricultural sector, tax reform – as well as combat corruption, "there is no simple recipe and no quick solution. But I hope that if everything sticks to the schedule we have planned - 2016 should be the first year of economic growth."

During his working visit to Washington, Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed, he and Finance Minister of Ukraine Natalie Jaresko held 30 meetings in 48 hours. The Prime Minister said that the level of support for Ukraine expressed by the United States’ leadership during these meetings was unprecedented.

In Washington, the Prime Minister met with US Vice President Joe Biden, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker.

There also were meetings with leaders of the US Congress, including House Speaker John Boehner, representatives of the Democratic and Republican parties.
