Pavlo Rozenko: Payment of special pensions terminated from June 1, 2015
According to the Law of Ukraine "On amendments to certain
legislative acts of Ukraine on pension provision" of 2 March 2015, the
Pension Fund of Ukraine shall terminate the appointment of the special pensions
to MPs, ministers, judges, prosecutors, customs officers, tax officers and
other officials from June 1, 2015. Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko announced on air of 24 TV Channel.
"It won’t work to delay the abolition of special pensions. This is
my principled position, as Minister for Social Policy, and that of the Government
as whole," he said.
Pavlo Rozenko reminded the Law of Ukraine
adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in March had envisaged that the Government must
submit a package of laws on pension reform before May 1, and unless the Parliament
approved it before June 1, the system of special pensions in Ukraine would cease
to exist. "We have fulfilled the norm of the Law and before May 1 have submitted
to the Verkhovna Rada a systemic pension reform, which the Parliament,
unfortunately, hasn’t considered and adopted yet", said the Minister of Social
Policy.
"Hence, from 1 June 2015, the Pension Fund of Ukraine ceases to
appoint the pensions following special laws. From June all the pensions for
MPs, ministers, judges, prosecutors, customs officers, tax officers and other
officials will be assigned pursuant to the Law of Ukraine "On mandatory
state pension insurance", on terms equal with all ordinary people," stressed
the Minister, noting that this norm does not apply to scientists and the
military.
"We
will fulfil this norm of the law with great pleasure. This is our principled
position. There won’t be compromise on further existence of the shameful VIP-pension
system", accentuated Pavlo Rozenko.
