Ukrainian delegation starts its work at WSIS Forum in Geneva
On May 26, the
World Forum Summit on the Information Society Forum 2015 (WSIS
Forum 2015) has started its work in Geneva. It was organized by the
International Telecommunication Union, UNESCO, UNCTAD and in close collaboration with other UN
agencies. On
the first day of the Forum, Ukrainian delegation headed by Chairman of the
State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection Volodymyr Zverev took part in the
opening ceremony of the Forum and the high-level segment with the participation
of heads of communication administrations of the participating countries.
The WSIS Forum represents the world’s largest annual
gathering of the ‘ICT for development’ community. The WSIS Forum
2015 will bring together about 1,200 officials from more than 140 countries,
including ministers for ICT, civil society leaders,
scientists, entrepreneurs.
Ukraine at the WSIS Forum 2015 is also represented by Chairman of the
Parliamentary Committee on Information and Communication Olexandr
Danchenko. The
delegation includes Head of the International Cooperation Administration of the
State Special Communication Oksana Krekota.
The Ukrainian
delegation will attend the high-level segment of the WSIS
Forum 2015, during which Volodymyr Zverev is to deliver a political statement about achievements
and main tasks of the telecommunication sector in Ukraine. The
program of the Forum also includes high-level dialogue on innovations in the
field of information and telecommunication technologies, ministerial roundtable,
exploring best practices of implementation of national strategies for
information society and overcoming threats when using Internet resources, as
well as a series of practical seminars and workshops to exchange knowledge on
the information society.
