Natalie Yaresko: Prime Minister set a three-month deadline for SFS leaders to put order into activity of fiscal authorities
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at its extraordinary meeting on May
5, appointed Roman Nasirov as Chairman of the State
Fiscal Service, while Constantine Likarchuk and Serhii Bilan – as his deputies.
"Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk set during the meeting
for the newly appointed Mr. Nasirov and his deputies
a three-month deadline to introduce real changes in the SFS activities",
stressed Minister of Finance of Ukraine Natalie Yaresko
during a briefing at the Government House.

According to her, throughout this time the new SFS leadership primarily
should maintain order in the work of the fiscal authorities and reduce
corruption. In addition, they have a task to change the whole SFS management
vertical in the regions and districts, thus ensuring filling these posts by
new and honest staff members capable to break corruption schemes. The issues for
them to be addressed as a matter of priority include an increase in tax
revenue due to de-shadowing of the economy and the fight against tax pits, as
well as increased revenues from the customs at the expense of the fight
against smuggling. "These are the changes that should be very quickly felt by each
citizen, each enterprise in the country", announced the Minister of
Finance. She noted that a meeting of the Council to select new leadership of the
State Fiscal Service, on behalf of the Prime Minister, had been carried out
by the Ministry of Finance, which this day completed its work. It comprised
representatives of the Ministry of Finance, and representatives of foreign
and Ukrainian business community, the public. "The Ministry of Finance has ensured first transparent process to
select a chairman of the SFS in the history of Ukraine and made every effort
to include in the competition as many highly qualified candidates as
possible," explained Natalie Yaresko. She
added that the Finance Ministry had also provided sufficient time for
submission of documents by all the concerned persons, while to attract a
large amount of skilled candidates there had been invited three international
recruitment agencies. In general to participate in the competition 67 candidates applied, at this 20 of them did not meet basic eligibility
requirements and legislation on public service. Another 47 candidates had
personal interviews with the Council for the selection, which shortlisted 12
strongest applicants through voting. On April 30, after an hour’s interview with each candidate there were chosen
two - Roman Nasirov and Andrii
Kolomiyets that were submitted for consideration of
the Prime Minister. On April 5, at its extraordinary session the Cabinet of Ministers
approved a new Chairman of SFS Roman Nasirov. |
