Oleksandr Kvitashvili introduced the Concept of the health system reform

Minister of Health of Ukraine Oleksandr Kvitashvili and Deputy Minister Ihor Perehinets introduced the Concept of the health system reform to MPs, representatives of the parliamentary coalition. Within two hours MPs had the opportunity to discuss steps proposed by the Ministry, in particular to clarify the issues of legislative support of the Concept.

According to the Minister, the meeting marked that there are no conceptual differences of opinion on the reform between the Minister of Health and MPs that give us hope for its speedy implementation. So, MPs fully supported the position of the Ministry regarding health decentralisation, the development of competition in medicine, changes in the funding system and status of hospitals.

"Actually, today there have been discussed technical issues – members of the Parliament provided their recommendations how to improve the functioning of the Blood Bank, they also proposed changes in building standards for hospitals and so on," Oleksandr Kvitashvili said.

The Minister also informed about the debate on the health insurance: "It is considered as one of the mechanisms for financing health services, but for its introduction the system must be carefully prepared".

MPs and the Minister of Health agreed to hold such meetings regularly.
