Prime Minister: International Conference due in Kyiv on April 28 aimed to support reforms in Ukraine
During the International Support for Ukraine Conference due on April 28, there
will be discussed issues of restoration of the territories in eastern Ukraine,
business climate and investment opportunities in Ukraine, agrarian policy and
reforms in this area, as well as energy efficiency. Prime Minister of Ukraine
Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Friday, 24
April.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that on April 27 there will be held Ukraine-EU
Summit in Kyiv, with participation, namely, of President of the European
Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and President of the European
Council Donald Tusk, other senior officials of the European Union.
According to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the agenda of the summit includes issues
of macro - financial assistance of the European Union and economic assistance,
support for Ukraine to counter the Russian aggression and preparations for the
Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga.
The Head of Government stressed that in the framework of the summit on 28
April an international conference in support of Ukraine would take place. According
to the current information 270 international partners will attend the event, it will be opened by President of the European
Commission Jean-Claude Juncker.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that an objective of the International Conference
- "to have the reforms being carried out in Ukraine evaluated by our western
partners, those supported by the Ukrainian Parliament and elaborated by the
Ukrainian Government together with the President".
The discussions will be held along four panels, to which there have been invited
members of the Ukrainian Government and foreign specialists. The topics of the
panels are as follows: rehabilitation of the eastern regions of Ukraine,
business climate and investment opportunities in Ukraine, agrarian policy and
reforms in this area, as well as energy efficiency.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted that leaders of the parliamentary factions had
received invitations to participate in the International Support for Ukraine
Conference.
According to him, this event is the first in a series of conferences due
to take place in 2015. In particular, preparations for the investment
conference in the United States of America on July 12-13 have already begun.
After the meeting of Arseniy Yatsenyuk and German Chancellor Angela Merkel,
Germany has also decided to organize an investment conference. "In
September we plan to organize in Kyiv a large investment conference targeting
to attract private capital into modernization of the Ukrainian economy and to
facilitate Ukraine getting out of the economic slowdown, creation new jobs and
promotion of the Ukrainian economy", informed the Head of Government.
