PM says help for veterans to be paid before May 1

The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated UAH882 million for social benefits to veterans and participants of the Second World War. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk directed Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko to verify full payment of these funds before 1 May. The PM said this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Wednesday, April 22.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk also said that at today's meeting the Government would adopt an action plan on the 70^th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in Europe, as well as the 70^th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

The PM instructed after approval of a plan to hold a conference call with heads of regional state administrations "to immediately proceed with the implementation of this action plan."

He recalled that the poppy flower is a symbol of the marking of the 70^th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in Europe: "This is a European symbol. Let all other tapes be worn in the Russian Federation."

The Prime Minister has emphasized that Ukraine is a founding member of the United Nations. Ukraine, he reminded, underwent almost 40% of human and material losses of the total loss of the former USSR during the Second World War.

"Ukraine is a country-winner, and Ukraine at the highest level will mark the anniversary of the end of World War II and the victory over Nazism," Arseniy Yatsenyuk highlighted.
