Pavlo Rozenko: Each temporary displaced person to receive social assistance timely
The State Budget of Ukraine has necessary amount of funds to provide
welfare payments to internally displaced persons by the end of year. Minister
of Social Policy of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko announced on
air of The Public TV.
"Our task is to do everything possible for the people who flee from
territory not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities to timely receive appropriate
social assistance. We had a slight delay with payment in late February - early
March, due to the fact that the funds intended in the state budget for these
purposes just ended. But the Cabinet of Ministers submitted to the VR
corresponding changes, and the Parliament added additional UAH 3 billion for
this program. We hope there won’t be any delays by the end of year with
payments to the displaced", he explained.
The Minister reminded that internally displaced persons receive a social
assistance UAH 884 for disabled persons and UAH 442 for the rest of IDPs.
"This assistance is only provided to those displaced persons who moved to reside
to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government. It is a significant
factor. The government allocates huge sums for our budget and we need to be
sure that relevant assistance reaches recipients, that this assistance is paid
to those who really need it, not those who are engaged in social tourism – they
came, took the money and went back," he explained and noted that recently
the Government had adopted a decision to prolong payment of social benefits to IDPs
for another 6 months.
Apart from that, Pavlo Rozenko stressed that
there had been significantly simplified a clearance procedure for humanitarian
assistance from international organizations. “We have simplified importation of
humanitarian aid. Cargoes from international organizations shouldn’t have to
wait for 3-4 months on the border as was before. Today, the clearance procedure
for humanitarian aid is carried out for a maximum of 7-8 days," said Pavlo
Rozenko
