Arseniy Yatsenyuk announces UAH 32 billion being the largest amount of funds accumulated at the Treasury Account since 2005

Now the Treasury Single Account contains UAH 32 billion which is the largest amount since 2005. The principal articles include financing the army, salaries, pensions and subsidies for Ukrainian citizens, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said in an interview with TSN. The Week on "1+1" TV channel.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted that when he had been appointed the Prime Minister of Ukraine the previous year, the State Treasury of Ukraine contained UAH 108 thousand: "Today the Treasury Account contains 32 billion hryvnyas. It is the largest amount since 2005. We have accumulated the money due to the changes in the tax system, due to the corruption fight".

He stressed that he is "rather careful in spending of budgetary funds". Main articles to use these funds currently, according to the Head of the Government, include military spending, wages and pensions: "The second line is financing of subsidies for the citizens of Ukraine".

“We possess sufficient financial resource at this stage. What would happen to the economy - we'll see. But now we have enough funds", emphasized Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

Apart from that the Prime Minister reminded Ukraine had obtained from the International Monetary Fund a first loan worth USD 5 billion. He explained a part of these were at the accounts of the National Bank of Ukraine to ensure the stabilization of the exchange rate. The remaining funds are in the reserves of the Government of Ukraine intended to cover external payments: "We do not spend these funds for social purposes, we have no right. But the money we would have to pay as our external obligations and repay to our lenders are disbursed to the army, also as welfare payments and subsidies".

The Prime Minister announced that to fund the subsidies there had been envisaged UAH 24.5 billion in the State Budget.

He noted that presently about 1.2 million families receive subsidies: "We expect after the tariff increase this number will raise up to 3 million families. We have calculated it the way to have enough money for subsidies for 15 million citizens."

"If we see that we lack funds, we will definitely find the resource in the State Budget", stressed Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
