Ukraine and USA committed to have joint projects in agrarian sector

A working visit of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olexii Pavlenko to the United States of America is underway. In the coming days he is scheduled to attend Canada. During the meetings of the Minister with foreign partners there have been reached an agreement on joint projects in the agricultural sector with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).

Aimed at further integration of Ukraine into the international agrarian environment the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olexii Pavlenko is on a working trip to the U.S.A. and, on March 26, he will be leaving for Canada.

At a meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Washington, Kareem N. Saleh, a Senior Advisor to OPIC's President, stressed that the Overseas Private Investment Corporation is resolute to invest into projects in Ukraine. Project budget can be up to USD 250 million, the number of the projects is unlimited.

“It is crucial for us to obtain assistance to strengthen and improve the efficiency of agriculture, in particular to provide an access to financing for small-sized enterprises”, stressed Olexii Pavlenko.

Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European integration Vladyslava Rutytska, who is a member of the Ukrainian team, informed that among actual projects are energy production from renewable sources: "Ukraine can provide raw materials for such facilities. Annually we receive about 60 million tons of straw and corn stalks".

In the framework of his working visit the Agriculture Minister shall meet with a number of officials and representatives of the agricultural sector in the U.S.A. and Canada. He is also scheduled to make a statement at the American Agrarian Congress.
