Government dismissed SFS deputy chairmen and accepted the resignation SFS Chairman Ihor Bilous

On the outcomes of an official investigation into the activities of senior officials of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Government adopted a decision to dismiss first Deputy Chairman of SFS, head of tax militia Volodymyr Khomenko and deputy chairman of the State Fiscal Service, responsible for the activities of the Customs Service Anatolii Makarenko. The Cabinet of Ministers accepted the resignation of the SFS Chairman Ihor Bilous.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced at a Government meeting on Monday, March 23.

He informed the special command investigation completed regarding the activities of senior officials of the State Fiscal Service.

The Prime Minister reminded three weeks before the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine had decided “to conduct a comprehensive command investigation of the activities of the State Fiscal Service, including the customs and tax militia". The Commission comprised 28 members, including business representatives, parliamentary factions and members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk named among the main corruption schemes identified “kickbacks” in the process of reimbursement of value added tax: "14 sites [belonging to former Minister of Revenues and Taxes of Ukraine - ed.] Mr. Klymenko were split into about 100 major conversion centers with total conversion volume worth up to UAH 20 billion. The so-called program of manufacturing of counterfeit vodka is valid until today. A vertical collection system from each batch of inventory has now transferred into total smuggling and corruption directly at customs checkpoints. They don’t take it to the top, they divide all that down there, what is supported by law enforcement representatives".

Taking into account the results of the investigation, according to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the Government has decided to dismiss first Deputy Chairman of the State Fiscal Service, chairman of the tax militia Volodymyr Khomenko and Deputy chairman of the State Fiscal Service, responsible for the activities of the Customs Anatolii Makarenko.

Following a statement by Minister of Economy of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius at the Government meeting on the results of the special command investigation, Chairman of SFS Ihor Bilous announced his resignation, which was accepted by the Cabinet of Ministers.
