PM commissions by June 1 to draft program to compensate purchase of pharmaceutical products for indigent citizens
The Government of
Ukraine is determined to redistribute certain amount of funds to help
low-income population to solve the problem of purchase of medicines and medical
goods. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed at a session of the
Government on Wednesday, March 18.
"Given the currency
exchange difference and the fact that the situation is quite difficult within
the country, we should help the indigent to buy pharmaceutical products,"
he stressed.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk addressed
Minister of Health of Ukraine Olexandr Kvitashvili with
a proposal in synergy with the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine to draft a
compensation program for the low-income population.
The Prime Minister
also stressed there is expected "from Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies to
make the grand gesture of helping the poor to buy at low prices those medicines
they need most".
He instructed the Health
Minister to summon a meeting on this issue with the manufacturers of drugs and
pharmaceuticals, as well as with participation of the Ministry of Finance of
Ukraine, "Certain funds is what we are determined
to redistribute in order to help the indigent people".
According to Arseniy
Yatsenyuk, this task is to be performed as soon as possible - by June 1.
