PM: Trilateral negotiations on gas deliveries to Ukraine scheduled for March 20
"I believe on
March 20 there will be held negotiations with our European partners with
participation of Russia to reach accord on the supply of natural gas during the
summer period," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a
Government meeting on Wednesday, March 11.
He reminded that in
June of last year he had rejected a gas price USD 485 offered by Russia, so in
the first quarter of 2015 Ukraine was paying USD 325.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed
that this summer Ukraine should pump up maximum amount of gas in storages.
Another top priority,
according to the Head of Government, is the transition to purchase natural gas
from the European Union member states, "It is cheaper and more steadfast.
Russia will remain among the suppliers, but the diversification of gas supply sources
is a core objective."
