PM orders to pay only for electricity supplied to state-controlled territory
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk demands that the National Commission of Ukraine for Energy,
Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) and
the Ministry of
Energy and Coal Industry immediately establish a clear algorithm - "only the electricity supplied to
Ukrainian government-controlled territory should be paid." The Head of the
Government stated this at a
meeting of the
Cabinet of Ministers on
Wednesday, January 18.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed to stop financial transfers, "until it has
been found out what we
pay for - for the
electricity supplied to the terrorists, or for the electricity supplied to the
Ukrainian territory with Ukrainian citizens."
The Prime Minister also ordered to
publish the general
data about the sums of money spent by Ukraine on the
supply of
electricity and natural gas to
the territories under
the temporary control of Russian terrorists.
The Ministry
of Finance was
instructed to take measures aimed at paying
compensations to
Naftogaz and the energy market
for unpaid shipments to these territories when the Ministry works out the State
Budget, "Six months ago, I said that we would
supply gas and electricity, but unpaid shipments will be compensated at the expense of
the costs
provided by the State Budget in the uncontrolled
territory. These funds will be redirected to the repayment of gas and electricity debt."
"In the framework of combating terrorism I am calling on to stick to discipline in all ministries and all government as well as state-owned companies," the Prime Minister emphasized.
