PM believes legitimately to raise issue of reparation payments from Russia
"I think it legitimately to raise
the issue of reparation
payments from the Russian Federation for the restoration of
Donbas. They have
destroyed Donbas, thus
Russia should be the
primary payer for the restoration of Donetsk and Luhansk,"
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated in
an interview with the program TSN. Tyzhden on
1 + 1 channel on Sunday, February 15.
He pointed out that the
Minsk deal was another
step towards getting peace, "But everything
depends on Russia and our Western
allies as well - whether we are
able to contain Russia and force
her to perform at least something she signs."
However, according to the PM, we "must always be alert
to the possibility that Putin won’t fulfill
his agreements, because
he always breaches them."
According to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, peace can
be guaranteed "only if Ukraine is
able to defend itself": "This is now the
most important time to strengthen the
defense of the Ukrainian state and to get
the support from our Western
partners, including military-technical."
"It would be good if we
move from the military to the political stage. But I'd like to
mention: no one will legalize terrorists through
the central government, if they think
about it, as well as legalize their enclave, they decided
to arrange there," the
Prime Minister highlighted.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that the key requirements - the complete restoration of control over the whole Ukrainian territory, including Donetsk and Luhansk, disarmament of all illegal units, the rule of Ukrainian laws, "reinstitution of the state government in every village and town - and the Russian gangsters and terrorists out of the Ukraine’s territory and regaining control over the border between Ukraine and Russia."
