PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with author of Polish economic transformation program Leszek Balcerowicz
On Saturday, January
31, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with Leszek
Balcerowicz, the author of the economic transformation program in Poland, who
held the positions of Minister of Finance of the Republic of Poland between
1989 and 1991, Vice-Prime Minister from 1997 to 2000 and President of the
National Bank of Poland between 2001 and 2007.
During the meeting
Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Leszek Balcerowicz discussed
their vision and concrete steps towards the implementation of priority reforms,
those determined by the Action Program for the Government of Ukraine.
Leszek Balcerowicz stressed that Ukraine needs
active global assistance – in political, economic and security areas.

The author of the economic transformations in Poland expressed his
support for the endeavors made by the Prime
Minister of Ukraine and the Ukrainian authorities to stabilize the situation
and transform Ukraine and also outlined his vision of the top priorities. Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that Ukraine highly appreciates the global solidarity
around the Ukrainian nation, its independence, the struggle for freedom,
democracy and a European future. He views as crucial in this regard the position
of the outstanding friends of Ukraine - leading political and economic
thinkers, with an important place occupied in this list by Leszek Balcerowicz. The PM of Ukraine stressed that the progress in the implementation of
reforms is vital for Ukraine. |
