On Thursday, January 22, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine took part in a celebration of the Day of Unity of Ukraine.

They laid flowers to the monuments to Taras Shevchenko and Mykhaylo Hrushevsky.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that these days the Day of Unity acquires a different meaning, "Before it used to be one of the holidays in Ukraine. Today it is a unity day and the day of the greatest value possessed by each Ukrainian which is our state".

"I believe that the Unity, reunification of Ukrainian lands, which took place in 1919, will have its future - we will return Crimea, and control over Donetsk and Luhansk. Russian military aggression, which is supervised by the Kremlin, won’t be successful and it will fail, like all the past occupations and aggressions against Ukraine," stressed the Head of Government.

He emphasized that the Russian terrorists had again made a heinous act against humanity, "The responsibility for it should be borne by the Russian Federation. It is vital to immediately execute an agreement for ceasefire, the withdrawal of forces. The most essential thing how to establish peace within the country is to remove the Russian military and Russian gangsters from Ukrainian territory. And then Ukrainian Unity and Ukrainian unification will be restored".

Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that a year had passed since the day, “when Serhii Nigoyan and Mykhaylo Zhyznevsky gave their lives for our unity, independence and our future, together with millions of Ukrainians fighting for the Ukrainian state", "Let’s pay the tribute to them and those Ukrainian soldiers who died in the struggle for Ukrainian independence. And let’s support those who are with arms in hands defending our Unity, our right to live in our country. We have won this right and will continue our battle."
