U.S. Government to render additional technical aid to Ukraine
The U.S. government will provide for Ukraine an additional technical
assistance worth USD 34.4 million.
To promote more transparent and accountable management processes, with
the broad participation of Ukrainian citizens, there will be attracted
additional technical assistance from the U.S. Government in the amount of USD
12.4 million.
The mentioned assistance will be sent to improve the legislative
framework in compliance with European standards, in particular to upgrade an
anti-corruption and electoral legislation (USD 11 million), also to improve the
functions of public control and participation of citizens in governance
processes (USD 1.4 million) and to raise a level of reporting to the government
of Ukraine and the observance of the rule of law.
The sum worth USD 22 million will be allocated to introduce a technical
assistance project aimed at sustainable development of democracy in Ukraine.
The mentioned financial support shall increase the level of energy
security of Ukraine. Apart from that, there will be drawn USD 6.6 million to assist
small and medium enterprises by local authorities. To increase agricultural
production volumes it is planned to attracted USD 5
million. Implementation of the support in the direction of strengthening the
capacity of a private sector makes up USD 2.5 million.
The Government approved agreements to ensure execution of objectives in
the development area between the Government of Ukraine and the US Government to
facilitate more transparent and accountable governance
processes with participation of the public and to promote sustainable economic
growth.

deals were inked by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine,
Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities
Volodymyr Groysman and the
U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Europe Regional Mission
Director responsible for Ukraine, Belarus,
Moldova and Cyprus Jed Barton.
