Ministry of Economic Development prolongs activity in reforming public procurement system
Reforming of the public procurement system in Ukraine and bringing
domestic legislation to compliance with the EU Directives in this area are
included into the most important objectives for the Ministry of Economic
Development and Trade of Ukraine. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economic
Development and Trade of Ukraine, head of staff Roman Kachur
on the opening of an international conference titled
"Perspectives of public procurement system development in Ukraine in the framework
of integration with the EU and key issues in reforming of the public
procurement system".
He emphasized that, despite the difficult
situation in the country, the volumes of public procurement
had decreased by approximately 40% and made up about UAH 105 billion. An important step in improving the procurement process was signing
of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
Roman
Kachur expressed his gratitude to the EU technical
assistance project “Harmonization of public procurement system in Ukraine with
EU standards" for the support and aid that the European Union provides to
facilitate the reforms of Ukrainian economy. He also outlined further ways of reforming
and improving the public procurement system.
