PM asks to submit conditions of tender to attract investors from the US and EU to modernize our GTS
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has
asked the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine as
well as NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy to give
the conditions of a public tender to attract investors
from the European Union and the United
States to operate and modernize the
Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS) and Ukrainian storage facilities
by next week. The PM said this at a
meeting of the anti-crisis energy center on Friday, October 31.
He has recalled that this is provided by the
law on the modernization and exploitation of the Ukrainian GTS: “It’s time to
fulfill the law. We should attract the EU and the
US to the modernization of the Ukrainian GTS in order to
increase pumping, to ensure security
of natural gas supply to the European Union. "
Arseniy Yatsenyuk has also emphasized that
the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine objects
to the construction of South Stream and welcomes
the decision of the European partners to block it.
"Ukraine jointly with the European Union will ensure the stable transit. We have all the technical capabilities as well as political will to let a joint venture company between Ukraine and the EU provide the energy security of Ukraine and the European Union, and to prevent the possibility of Russia’s blackmailing both Europe and Ukraine," the Prime Minister stressed.
