Yurii Prodan meets in Brussels with Vice-President of European Commission for Energy Union
On October 29, in the framework of his official
visit to Brussels Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yurii Prodan
met with Vice-President of European Commission for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič,
who will take office on November 1, 2014.
The interlocutors discussed
priority cooperation lines between
Ukraine and a new composition of the European Commission in energy domain as
well as the state of preparation to the winter period.
The Ukrainian side informed about
pursuing reforms on the gas market of Ukraine in conformity with energy legislation
of the EU and stressed Ukraine still remains a reliable partner of the European
Union and a transit country to deliver the natural gas to the EU member states.
The Ukrainian Minister
familiarized the EC Vice-President with a proposal of the Ukrainian party
called to settle the situation with the shipment of Russian natural gas to
Ukraine.
Maroš Šefčovič noted the important
role Ukraine plays to ensure Europe's energy security and welcomed the launch
of reverse flows of natural gas to Ukraine from the territory of the EU member states.
Minister
of Energy and Coal Industry Yurii Prodan
invited Maroš Šefčovič to pay a visit to Ukraine.
