Memorandum of understanding signed between Government of Ukraine and OECD
In Paris-based headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and
Development (OECD) on October 7 there was held a ceremony of signing a Memorandum of
understanding (MOU) between the Government of Ukraine and the OECD on deeper
cooperation, in which was participating acting Minister of Economic Development
and Trade Anatolii Maksiuta
from the Ukrainian side.
The Memo determines priority areas and cooperation forms for the two-year’s
term, it contains: development of small and average businesses; curbing
corruption; public administration; enhancement of sector competitiveness,
including agriculture and green economy; management of state-owned enterprises;
improvement of tax administration system; statistics development.

A deeper cooperation with the OECD is opening for Ukraine larger opportunities
to strengthen relations with the Organizations’ member states, to participate
in various international events in order to exchange experience and elaborate
recommendations called to ensure economic growth. “The Memorandum shall become our key landmark in cooperation with the Organisation
for Economic Co-operation and Development for the two years to come.
Meanwhile, successful realization of all our joint events contained in the
MOU would enable Ukraine to count on further deepening of relations with the
OECD and its member states targeting membership in this elite organization in
the long run,” stressed in his welcoming statement Anatolii
Maksiuta. Ukraine believes implementation of the document will help in its
efforts to: - improve the national legislation in accordance with best
international practices and recommendations of the OECD, including to ensure
realization of the Free Trade Area between Ukraine and the EU; - enlarge participation of Ukraine in activity of OECD working bodies; - launch new cooperation lines, in particular to ensure the development
of green economy, improve state statistics system, competitive legislation
and curb corruption etc. “Ukraine is at a pivotal moment. Notwithstanding the very difficult
context, the country needs to continue upgrading its economic and policy
frameworks and is looking at the best approaches to do so, in order to create
better lives and opportunities for its people. We are here to answer that
call,” said OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría. |
