Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Prime Minister of Romania signed Agreement between Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Government of Romania on local border traffic

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and the Prime Minister of Romania Victor Ponta have signed the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Romania on local border traffic on Thursday, October 2.

The Agreement will promote the development of Ukrainian-Romanian border cooperation. In particular, the Agreement provides for a simplified procedure of crossing the border by residents of border regions of Ukraine and Romania, living within a 30-kilometer zone from the common state border. They receive free permits for simplified border crossing and the right to stay in the border zone of another state for up to 90 days each time from the date of crossing the border.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk called the signing of the Agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Romania "another step towards visa-free traveling between citizens of Ukraine and the member-states of the European Union".

In accordance with this agreement, nearly half a million of Ukrainians who live in the 30-km zone on the border with Romania can visa-free travel to Romania", said Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that Ukraine is implementing the Action Plan on simplification of visa regime between Ukraine and the European Union: "We hope that Ukrainian citizens can visit all EU member-states without getting a visa".
