Defence Minister of Ukraine and Senator of the Polish Senate discussed practical areas of bilateral cooperation
September 30, Defense Minister, Colonel General Valery Heletey met with the Senator of the Senate of the Republic
of Poland Bogdan Klich.
During the meeting the parties discussed practical areas to enhance bilateral
cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the defense
sector, solutions to the crisis situation which occurred around Ukraine,
military and political aspects of cooperation.
The Defense Minister thanked the Polish Senator for the support
of Ukrainian people demonstrated by his government and the country. The Polish
side was also briefed about the current military-political situation in Ukraine
and ways of reforming the Armed Forces.
In particular,
Colonel General Valery Heletey noted the importance of
the inked agreement on the establishment of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade,
being a practical step in the acquiring by the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the
new opportunities and approaching the standards of the armies of the leading world
countries.
"We want the
Armed Forces of Ukraine could pass this way as soon as possible", - said
the Defence Minister.
Colonel General
Valery Heletey noted that fundamental changes in the Ukrainian army
will be entrenched into the State Program on Reforming of the
Armed Forces of Ukraine up to 2020, as the Ministry of Defence and the General headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are engaged in elaborating of it.
Polish Senator Bogdan Klich stressed the Polish
party highly estimated the endeavours of the Ukrainian military directed to
preserving the state sovereignty of Ukraine, peace and security in Europe.
"You are heroes
for the Central and Eastern Europe. Poland has always demonstrated support and
still stand in full solidarity with the people of Ukraine", - he stressed.
Bogdan Klich expressed
confidence in further development of fruitful cooperation between Ukraine and
Poland and noted the importance of increasing opportunities for the Armed
Forces to ensure the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
