Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk receives delegation of Amnesty International led by Secretary-General Salil Shetty

On Monday, September 8, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has received a delegation of the international human rights organization Amnesty International, led by the General-Secretary Salil Shetty, who is paying a visit to Ukraine.

The Prime Minister assessed a recent statement by Amnesty International, in which the situation in the East of Ukraine was characterized as an international conflict, and the Russian Federation was recognized a participating side. "We fully share this assessment," the Prime Minister said and expressed belief that Russia's political leaders should be responsible for waging the war.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Salil Shetty paid peculiar attention to the issues of responsibility for human rights violations in the captured by Russian terrorists districts, including murder, torture, kidnapping and taking hostages. The Prime Minister of Ukraine confirmed the principle position concerning equality before the law of all perpetrators of the committed crimes.

With the view to the planned visit of the Amnesty International Secretary-General to Moscow, Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to Salil Shetty with a request to facilitate the release of kidnapped from the territory of Ukraine Oleh Sentsov and Nadiya Savchenko, who were still suffering detention by the Russian authorities.
