On August 19, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine hosted a working meeting of the Minister Yuri Prodan with representatives of the Slovak delegation headed by Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Pavol Pavlis.

The event dealt with the discussion of the prospects of Ukrainian-Slovak cooperation in energy.

Participating in the meeting from the Ukrainian side were Deputy Minister I. Didenko, Chairman of the Naftogaz of Ukraine Board A. Kobolev, Chairman of PJSC "Ukrtransgaz" Board I. Prokopiv, Director of the European Union's Department of the MFA V. Chentsov and others.

The Slovak delegation was represented by the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Pavol Pavlis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine Juraj Siváček and other officials.

Minister Yurii Prodan in his statement noted that cooperation in energy sector is a major challenge and a significant potential for the development of cooperation between Ukraine and the Slovak Republic.

"The Ukrainian side stands technologically ready to provide the transit of natural gas from the Russian Federation to Europe, even after termination of deliveries of Russian gas to Ukraine", - said Yurii Prodan.

During the meeting the Parties exchanged views on the prospects for further cooperation in energy domain. In particular, the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Pavol Pavlis said: "Small reverse flow will become a basis for further collaboration between Slovakia and Ukraine".

It should be noted that signing on April 28 of this year of a bilateral Memorandum of understanding has paved the way for the implementation of reverse gas supplies to Ukraine.
