PM directs to investigate activities of political parties and MPs as to support of terrorists and separatists

Ukrainian PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk has urged the Prosecutor General`s Office, the Security Service and Interior Ministry finally to investigate the activity of all persons, including MPs, as to the support of terrorists, separatists and criminals posing a threat to Ukrainian independence. He has appealed to the Parliament urgently consider the issue concerning the immunity of these persons. The PM said this at a Cabinet’s meeting held on Wednesday, July 9.

The Prime Minister has reminded that on 8 July the Ministry of Justice by order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine filed a lawsuit to ban the activity of the Communist Party of Ukraine: "This is not a ban on a political party, this is a ban on those undermining Ukrainian independence, struggling against the Ukrainian state and blowing up the foundations of the constitutional order in the country".

"Anyone who would commit crimes against the Ukrainian state, namely to encroach upon its territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of borders will be prosecuted by law," stressed the PM.

The Prime Minister has appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine "finally to investigate the activities of all persons, including those who have the status of deputies of Ukraine, to submit relevant materials to the court as well as to the Parliament with a view to abolishing the parliamentary immunity and bringing to justice all those who support terrorists, separatists and other criminals, as well as pose a threat to Ukrainian independence. "

Arseniy Yatsenyuk has emphasized that he is going to appeal to the Parliament to urgently consider the issue on the abolition of parliamentary immunity of such persons with a view to bringing them to justice. These people "have no relation to high status of people's deputy," he added.

Moreover, the Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine to investigate the activities of political parties and public associations, in the activities and utterances of which there are signs of a crime, namely, assault on the territorial integrity and independence of the Ukrainian state, "All of them, without exception, should be punished for this".
