Volodymyr Hroisman and Nils Muiznieks discuss needs of IDPs in Ukraine

Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister-Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Volodymyr Hroisman during a visit to the Council of Europe held a separate meeting with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks.

The key issue of the meeting was to discuss the situation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine and ensure their immediate needs.

Volodymyr Hroisman has informed about a range of measures taken by the Ukrainian Government to meet the needs of IDPs. In particular, he has noted the issue of registration of people who move from the ATO areas in other regions of Ukraine, which will enable each displaced person to get the status of a resident of the territory where he/she is actually staying with all the corresponding rights.

Also, the Deputy Prime Minister has shown an information website migrants.gov.ua, designed specifically for internally displaced persons, which contains data by region on the availability of free accommodation, contacts of an information center as well as regional headquarters dealing with the issues of internally displaced persons.

Volodymyr Hroisman has also expressed a request to the Council of Europe to support Ukraine in addressing the urgent issues of IDPs.

In his turn, Nils Muižnieks has positively appreciated the efforts of the established by the Government Interagency Coordination Staff led by Volodymyr Hroisman and pledged to support efforts of Ukrainian government in addressing these complex issues.
