Commentary of the MFA on the conference call of foreign ministers of Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France
Following
the agreements reached during a phone conversation of President of Ukraine Poroshenko with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President of France François Hollande and President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Ministers of four states held a phone conference.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin discussed with Sergey Lavrov, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Laurent Fabius a number of practical and technical steps to the implementation
of the Ukrainian President’s
peace plan on the peaceful settlement of the situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine as soon as possible.
However, we have to state that in 72 hours after making the difficult and highly responsible decision to continue unilaterally the ceasefire regime in the framework of the anti-terrorist operation, we observe absolute breach of even
four conditions by illegal armed groups. Ukraine continues to pay for this with the lives of its defenders, patriots and civilians, as well as unprecedented sufferings of all inhabitants of the eastern regions of our country.
Believing
in
the current situation as the first priority to stop immediately by militants and terrorists armed violence, release the hostages and introduce OSCE full control over compliance with the ceasefire regime and effective monitoring of the situation on the Ukrainian-Russian border.
