Vitalii Yarema met with Ambassador of Japan Mr. Toichi Sakata

First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vitalii Yarema met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Mr. Toichi Sakata.

The sides discussed urgent issues of Ukrainian-Japanese relations. In particular, they discussed a draft of comprehensive reconstruction of wastewater treatment facilities of WWTP Bortnicheskoy, for financing of which the Government of Japan had allocated $1.1 billion on beneficial terms for Ukraine. The sides expressed hope that in the near future after the ceremony of the exchange of documents between the Governments of Ukraine and Japan, the project would be launched.

Vitalii Yarema said that Ukraine was interested in cooperation with Japan in attracting Japanese advanced energy saving technologies in the Ukraine’s economy. "Attracting of Japanese experience in this area will give Ukraine the opportunity to get rid of energy dependence," underlined the official.
