Arseniy Yatsenyuk: President, Parliament and Cabinet of Ministers will act as one

“As the Head of Ukrainian Government I want to declare: the President, the Parliament and the Cabinet of Ministers will act as one,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Friday, June 6, on the outcomes of 100 days’ work of the Government of Ukraine.

He said that millions of Ukraine’s citizens expect for real changes: “These changes are also spread throughout unity, common tasks and political responsibility. Political commitment to our people, who were standing in Maidan, and to those thousands of our guys, who have been fighting with arms in hands. And they fight for our country, for our future, for the Ukrainian colors, anthem, for our Ukrainian families and our European state”.

“If we are united, it is the only pledge of victory. That’s why we are winning and will win. Ukraine will be free from terrorists and we will free Donetsk and Luhansk from those who interfere in their future. Banditry and terrorism that are sponsored by Russia will be destroyed,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

The Head of Government emphasized, under conditions when almost 40 thousand militants of the Armed Forces of Russia have been deployed and still remain in close proximity to Ukraine’s borders, “when Russia has sent thousands of terrorists to the territory of Ukraine, when it finances terrorist activity and when every effort was made to disrupt the presidential elections,” Ukrainian people demonstrated that they are wise: “In the first round Ukraine has elected the Head of Government, and we conducted was fair and transparent elections”.

“The fact that tomorrow, in this hall, the newly-elected Head of Ukrainian state will take an oath should be credited to millions of Ukrainians, who came, voted and said: this is our country, we shall determine who will rule it, and Ukraine will have a legal and duly elected President,” the Head of Government said.

By holding fair and open elections, he noted, Ukraine has proved its devotion to the democratic principles, “and despite all the attempts directed to disruption of the presidential election campaign, we have a legal President”. 

The Head of Government emphasized these days Ukraine has faced the most dramatic challenges throughout the whole history of independence: “Firstly, over the history of Ukraine’s independence we have met with blatant Russian military aggression. There have never been wars on the territory of Ukraine. Russia has unleashed this war”.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk highlighted, Russia had annexed the Ukrainian territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea: “Far from being complacent with Crimea, they were striving and have been trying to go further. And everything we see in Donetsk and Luhansk is open military intervention”.

“Summarizing these one hundred days our country has lived over I would like to characterize them with the only phrase – we have been able to withstand. We have survived as Ukrainian country, as Ukrainian people,” the Prime Minister said.

“We have pulled ourselves together, harnessed our will and demonstrated that Ukraine isn’t just the territory but the state. That Ukrainian citizens are not just population, but nation. The true nation!”, Arseniy Yatsenyuk accentuated.
