Government meets all obligations for social payments, including in Donetsk and Luhansk region
At a
session of the Government on Wednesday, June 4, the Prime Minister of Ukraine
Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to the Ministry of internal Affairs, Security
Service of Ukraine, Ministry of Social Policy, PJSC “State Savings Bank of
Ukraine” and Ukrposhta with a request to ensure getting
of social payments by Ukraine’s citizens, including those who reside on the
territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
“They are
our citizens and they also wish to get rid of the terrorists like the entire
Ukraine. And we shall meet all our obligations for Ukrainian citizens
irrespectively of where they live – in Donetsk, Luhansk, Lviv
or Ternopil. I ask to assume strict control over the
situation,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized.
The Head of
Government reminded that on June 3 at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s session
he had reported on the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk concerning gathering
taxes and non-tax payments: “I cannot help but I am concerned about the
situation as we have failed to gather 422 million hryvnyas from these two
regions over the recent month”.
At the same
time, he emphasized, the Government of Ukraine covers all social payments in
full.
According to the Minister of Social Policy Liudmyla
Denisova, on June 3 financing of pensions started in accordance
with the payment timeline.
In particular,
according to her, today pensions are to be received by 83 thousand retirees in
Donetsk region and 44 thousand in Luhansk region: “Tomorrow, according to the schedule,
we will finance assistance to families with children, including the mentioned
regions as well. The mentioned funds are obtained by 326 thousand families in
Donetsk region and 164 thousand in Luhansk region. Therefrom,
we have a standards situation”.
However, Liudmyla Denisova stressed, the
Ministry is not capable to ensure payments in three towns of Eastern Ukraine – Slovyansk, Kramatorsk and Antratzit:
“We cannot afford those people who ensure this financial assistance payments to
be in danger”.
Moreover, the Minister of Social Policy informed that the Government had
paid off practically all the debts of the previous government, social welfare
funds, social and insurance payments: “I can inform we owed nothing to our
citizens”.
