On Friday, May 9, the  Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine participated in a special prayer to honor the memory of the deceased in World War II. The prayer took place in St. Volodymyr Cathedral in Kyiv and was conducted by the Patriarch of Kyiv and all Rus-Ukraine Philaret.

After the prayer Arseniy Yatsenyuk told media people: “Today is a remarkable day. On the one part – it a day of tragic events, as millions were deceased. On the other part – there was a joint victory over fascism”.

“69 years ago, we and Russia were fighting against fascism and gained the victory. But now Russia has started war against Ukraine. History is repeated in another form,” he said.

The Head of Government emphasized Russia has to stop, “cease supporting terrorists who are killing innocent citizens in Ukraine and who were the reason that the anti-terrorist mission has kicked off”.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk declared the authorities had triggered a nation-wide dialog. He informed that a roundtable of national unity would take place on May 14: “Ukraine needs unity, a dialog and peace”.

“But we shall have peace when terrorists aren’t provoked by Russia, that was fighting cheek by jowl with us, nevertheless now there are Germany, Great Britain and the U.S.A., standing cheek by jowl with us,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.
