Arseniy Yatsenyuk received UNESCO Secretary General Irina Bokova

On Tuesday, April 22, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk received the UNESCO Secretary General Irina Bokova.

In the course of the meeting the interlocutors discussed preserving UNESCO world heritage sites, at this peculiar attention was paid to the sites located on the territory of the temporary occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea. They also emphasized the importance of the approved on April 10 of the current year by the session of the UNESCO Executive Council of a resolution “UNESCO Monitoring Situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine)”, and the need to elaborate effective mechanisms of cultural heritage protection, to ensure educational process and other problems within the UNESCO competency arising in connection with the illegal annexation of the Crimea by the Russian Federation.

There was held fruitful exchange of thoughts concerning models of legislative settlement of the issues of preserving the cultural heritage, also A. Yatsenyuk and I. Bokova tackled the priorities of cooperation between Ukraine and UNESCO.
