A.Yatsenyuk at Kyiv Security Forum: We must work out new common security model for Europe

"We need to begin a dialogue urgently concerning what should be a system security, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yatsenyuk said on Thursday, April 10, at the Seventh Kyiv Security Forum "On the Fault Line: to be Secure In - Between".

Russian military intervention “has destroyed fragmented security system and to which, unfortunately, there is no adequate response," he said.

The Prime Minister stressed that the actions of the Russian Federation concerning Ukraine is not just a violation of international law, but an impudent international crime: "Despite dozens of agreements on partnership and brotherhood, we’ve realized only in 2014 what if a Russian brotherhood. This is Russian tanks and troops which captured Crimea. This is Russian soldiery, which surrounded all the borders of the Ukrainian state. This is "free protesters" who capture the building of the Security Service of Ukraine and seize hundreds of the Kalashnikov guns under the supervision of Russian secret agents and direct financing of anti-Russian and anti-government operations."

"If someone is hoping that the issue of Crimea will be off the agenda these hopes are vain. Ukrainian state will never recognize the annexation of the Crimea and the time will come when Ukraine resume control over Ukrainian territory, Autonomous Republic of Crimea" Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

He expressed his confidence that "Western partners who have provided unprecedented political support to Ukraine will continue as hard to maintain the principles of international law and business as usual wouldn’t work this time."

"We call on our international partners in order to negotiate and work out new common security model for Europe, which is not a written commitment, but a guarantee that it will never happen again the situation where a country that was a member of the G8 and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, violates international law in an unprecedented way," the Prime Minister stressed.

The international community under these circumstances must find an adequate response to any aggressor.

"I am convinced that these challenges that Ukraine faces, no generation of independent Ukraine has had. And we will overcome all these challenges. Our children will know that we did a great work for them - retained Ukraine and made it the part of the EU and regained the territory belonging to the Ukrainian state," he said.

"Ukraine has won freedom for its citizens. Now Ukraine must win freedom in the world," Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.
