Government adopts decision on immediate payment of assistance for the families of those who died in mass protest rallies

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has enacted a resolution “On the social protection of members of families of those who died in mass public protest rallies throughout November 21, 2013 – February 21, 2014”.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk has submitted for considering the draft resolution at a session of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, March 28.

The session of the Government started with a minute of silence.

Arsenii Yatseniuk informed that the agenda of today’s sitting includes one question, which is “on the social protection of the families of those who died in the dramatic events in Ukraine, when Ukrainians were fighting and gained freedom, independence and sovereignty: “We must execute the part of the debt we are under an obligation to the families of those Ukrainians who died in the battle, who gave away their lives, and help to the families, children, widows, parents of those victims”.

The members of the Cabinet of Ministers considered an issue on immediate payment of 100 minimum subsistence level to every family of those who died – 104 families. Besides, the relevant draft resolution contains that from April 1 the assistance worth UAH 5 thousand will be paid for every child, every widow, parents who were dependant on the person who died: “And it is insignificant from which side – the one or the other. It is our duty to these families. It is our duty to those children”.

The resolution was approved unanimously. The Head of Government signed the relevant act just at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Arsenii Yatseniuk commissioned Finance Minister Olexandr Shlapak to ensure respective payments for the families of the victims.
