Statement of MFA of Ukraine with regards to signing political part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and EU

The political part
of the Agreement was signed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, leaders of EU participating
countries and European institutions and it confirms devotion of the
signatories to the United Nations Charter and OSCE fundamental documents and
also readiness to interact tightly targeting to ensure independence,
sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukrainian borders,
stability and safety in the region. The Government of
Ukraine considers the Association Agreement a tool of strengthening of
democratic processes in Ukrainian state, a roadmap to the system political
and economic modernization in compliance with the best European standards. The Association
Agreement still remains an integral document. The parties agreed as soon as
possible to finalize the procedures of concluding a trade and economic part
of the Agreement and commence its practical implementation, in particular in
the direction of creating a deep and overall free trade area. Signing and
implementation of the Association Agreement is viewed as an important step in
the direction of realization of the strategic goal of the country – the
European Union membership as is envisaged by the provisions of the Law of
Ukraine “On the grounds of the internal and external policy” dated 2010 and
Article 49 of the Treaty on the European Union. |
