Arsenii Yatseniuk: Government should prepare Economic Growth Code
The Cabinet of
Ministers should prepare a so-called positive package concerning the issue of
deregulation, attracting investment and job creation as well as Economic Growth
Code, which provides for reduction of taxes and broadening the tax base. This
was started by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk at the Cabinet’s
session Wednesday, March 19.
He recalled that the
Finance Ministry has prepared a number of proposals, in particular the amendments
to tax system and the introduction of stringent fiscal measures: "We
realize that not all of these legislative initiatives will be perceived by
society positively, but we all have to realize that the situation is such that
we must stabilize the economy, get serious economic and financial assistance
from the International Monetary Fund and our partners."
The prime Minister
stressed that stabilization of the economy enable the country to enter to
economic growth: “I hope that the stabilization period will last for this year,
and economic growth, which will be based on economic performance of 2014, will
take place next year.”
“So it is crucial for
us now - do not fall. We do our best to keep the economic situation,” Arsenii
Yatseniuk added.
He also stressed that
he welcome the position of the Ukrainians who are ready in this difficult time
to help the country.
Arsenii Yatseniuk
turns to the members of the Cabinet of Ministers, including the Minister of
Economic Development and Trade, to promptly prepare a so-called positive
package "These are issues of deregulation, attracting investment, creating
jobs."
The Prime Minister has
instructed the Minister of Finance to prepare the Economic Growth Code -
"reducing the number of taxes and, therefore, broadening the tax
base."
Arsenii Yatseniuk also
address to Vice Prime Minister on regional development Volodymyr
Hroisman on the issue of deregulation: “the monopoly
that was here in the Cabinet should be broken immediately. We return power to
the fields – it is the only way to overcome the central corruption. And we
write this new rule.”
“We should work
quickly and efficiently, the country is expecting immediate changes. We have
very little time so that the Ukrainians gave first estimates of how this
Government operates. And it depends on us what the estimates will be,” Arsenii
Yatseniuk added.
